Why Solarlux?
Fully Manufactured in Germany
All Solarlux products sold by Spectrum are fully manufactured in Melle, Germany, including doors, frame, glass, handles and fittings. Each door is bespoke-made to your size and specification.
High Performance
Solarlux doors are precision-engineered to a class-leading standard. They are independently tested to 1200PA (approximately 100 mph) and remain water-tight beyond that. The SL80 has been tested to failure at 3000Pa (a typical tropical hurricane is about 2400Pa).
Thermal Insulation
All Solarlux doors are thermally broken on the whole system, including the threshold, and they developed the famous "bionic turtle" thermal break system. The class-leading U-values are provided on the whole unit, not just the door panels, so that you know exactly what you are getting. U-values range from 1.4 with double glazing down to 0.79 with triple glazing and the best specification.
Security
Security is taken very seriously at Solarlux, and all products are certified to the rigorous European RC2 standard as a minimum. Some products, such as Ecoline, Highline and SL60, also have Secure by Design, a British standard created by the Association of Chief Police Officers.
Warranty
Some manufacturers require you to provide evidence of a rigorous maintenance regime to qualify for the warranty. Spectrum provide a no-quibble Solarlux-backed warranty. As one of the elite Solarlux 'Quality Partners', we are also able to provide an enhanced warranty over a standard dealer.
Durability
You obviously expect your doors to slide effortlessly when they are first installed — but you also want them to be equally effortless 10 years later. The stresses on a slim-profile or bifolding door are considerable — and only doors engineered to such a high standard will last the distance. Solarlux doors are tested to 20,000 cycles — the equivalent to opening twice a day, every day for 27 years!
Passive House
The Solarlux SL97, a timber-aluminium bifolding door, has a U-value down to 0.79 and meets the standard for Passive House installations.
THE SOLARLUX CAMPUS
To describe the Solarlux Campus in Melle, Germany, as outstanding would be an understatement! In recent years it has won all kinds of prizes such as the Lower Saxony State Prize for Architecture and the 2019 Environmental Award issued by the Osnabrück Regional Conservation Fund. However, even without these awards, the 58,000 m² facility would still have plenty to impress: workstations flooded with light, a huge 3,000 sq.m. showroom, one of Europe’s largest geothermal areas... the list is endless!
