Passivhaus Bifolding Doors

Solarlux SL79: The world's first bifolding doors to meet the Passivhaus standard: Uw value of 0.80 (subject to specification). Timber-aluminium.

The World's First Passivhaus Bifolding Doors

The Solarlux SL-79 is an exceptional Passivhaus bifolding door and a feat of engineering. It achieves remarkable levels of insulation for a bifolding door, plus the all-important air-tightness plus other benefits such as sound deadening. As you'd expect it is supplied as standard with triple-glazing.

The SL-79 is made from timber but with aluminium cladding on the outside for a tough, long-lasting, low-maintenance finish. The wood is certified from sustainable forestry and the use of water-based varnishes are consistent with the Solarlux ecological approach to sustainable building. All components are tested for environmental compatibility.

Three all-round sealing systems ensure high impermeability to wind and rain.

If you are looking for Passivhaus bifolding doors and a supply with extensive knowledge and experience in specifying and installing windows and doors to Passivhaus standard, then you've come to the rigtht place.

Passivhaus Bifolding Doors and Other Passivhaus Windows and Doors

Windows and doors are an important part of the Passivhaus standard. They must meet the energy efficient Uw mark of 0.8 and also meet certain air-tightness targets. The glass should have Solar Gain properties, especially in cart positions in the building to allow the sun to warm the home — plus shading options to avoid overheating in the summer. The installation is also important which is why our installers are fully Passivhaus-trained and expereinced.

We also supply a range of Passivhaus Windows and Doors by the renowned Austrian maker, Internorm. This includes Passivhaus sliding doors which are an alternative to Passivhaus bifolding doors.

Passivhaus

Passivhaus is a stringent building standard focused on creating highly energy-efficient and comfortable living spaces. By meticulously designing buildings to be exceptionally well-insulated and airtight, Passivhaus minimizes heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. This approach dramatically reduces the need for conventional heating and cooling systems.

To achieve Passivhaus certification, buildings undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet specific performance criteria. Key elements include super-insulation, airtight construction, and a ventilation system that recovers heat from outgoing air. The result is a building with minimal energy consumption, reduced carbon emissions, and a healthy, stable indoor climate for occupants.

EnerPHit is a slightly downgraded version for retrofit projects, where the limits and challenges of the existing architecture and conservation mean that meeting the Passivhaus standard is not possible.
