How to make the most of your views — without big heating bills! ♨️❄️ Our client was building his forever home in extensive grounds with wonderful views so we installed huge triple-glazed Solarlux sliding doors to the south with matching high-performance windows to the North. The client has reported that they use surprisingly little heating even in mid winter. Case study to follow.

Thanks to Solarlux UK for the photoshoot.

A straightforward job compared to some of our projects! The windows and doors are in, just need to seal up and get the bespoke aluminium cills made. Straight-forward, yes, but not ordinary windows.... these are premium triple-glazed timber-aluminium windows, custom built by Kastrup Vinduet in Denmark. ... See MoreSee Less

The beautifully-crafted wood on these gorgeous timber-aluminium Kastrup windows just needs a fine, bright day to photograph them in all their glory! Roll on Spring 😆

This is solid spruce timber, bespoke crafted in Denmark, with durable aluminium on the outside for minimal maintenance — and designed as highly insulated, ultra low-energy windows for a warmer home. Available to view in our Shropshire showroom.

Proud to be involved in this Award-Winning project. This is a contemporary extension to a 500-year old cruck-framed cottage which was also restored. The buildings are joined through a glass link to the cottage which doubles as the kitchen. The windows are all by Kastrup, our Danish partner, and are aluminium-clad oak. The architect was drawn to the Kastrup style with slimline frames and the flexibility to extend a run of windows through a bonded glass corner. The windows became a key part of the design language of the extension while the oak is a reference to the oak frame of the old cottage. The windows are all triple glazed and (like all our windows) have exceptional thermal performance, something that was also important to the client.

There are also some Internorm sliding doors which could achieve the heights and sizes needed but harmonise beautifully with the Kastrup windows.

The extension and cottage restoration were brilliantly designed by William Flint of Flint Architecture. Building in a period style next to a genuine old house risks looking fake. Building in a contemporary 21st century style is genuine and of its time — whilst the inclusion of natural materials and colours helps the extension complement and highlight the old cottage.

Flint Architecture were awarded 'Best Architect or Designer for an Extension Project' at the Build It Awards 2024 for this project which was also shortlisted for the RIBA West Midlands Award 2024.
