Luxury Internorm Windows in a Modernised Renovated Home

CASE STUDY: Our clients extended and modernised their 1960s house into a luxury but sustainable low-carbon home.

The high-performance Internorm windows & doors were a key part of acheiving their aims.

Our client and first visited us at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show. Planning a major remodelling and extension of their 1960s home, he had been researching options for a long time and had complex and demanding requirements. Factors such as sustainability, low energy consumption and creating a low-carbon home were very important to him, as were high technical performance, exceptional build quality and a luxury appearance. As soon as he saw Internorm on the stand, he knew it was the right product — and the only brand that would meet all his objectives. He and his wife later visited our showroom to discuss the finer details and had become nearly as passionate about Internorm as we are!

The plans included a run of four large triple-glazed tilt-and-turn windows. They are much larger than they appear in the photos below, and accommodating the weight imposed on the single-span frame when all four windows are open was a significant engineering challenge. It took some time to get the technical spec just right, and we believe that Internorm is the only system engineered strong enough to achieve this.

They also opted for Internorm's solar-powered integral blinds (within the glazing units) in certain rooms.

The installation went smoothly, as you would expect from our experienced and skilled team. Both the builders and architects commented on the level of support we provided throughout the renovation.

Eighteen months on, the clients have told us how delighted they are with both the windows and the service they received from Spectrum, each of which met and exceeded their expectations. They have also remarked on how many visitors comment on the windows and doors.

As part of the refurbishment, they installed air conditioning, but they had not realised quite how effectively these high-performance windows would keep the heat out during hot weather, reducing the need to use the air conditioning.
